Address

Eurostar
Temple Mills depot
Orient Way
London
E10 5YA

Built on the site of the former marshalling yard and EWS TMD, the Eurostar Engineering Centre opened its doors on the 2nd October 2007, the ribbon being cut by the then Transport Secretary, Tom Harris MP.

Apart from the site being used to host and maintain the Eurostars, various EMU's ( usually class 315, 317 & 321 ) and NXEA ( Greater Anglia ) MK3 stock stable at the North West end of the complex.

By Car - On the approach to the end of the M11 and signposted for the A12 & A13, keep in the left hand lane, which merges on to the A406. Immediately, get in the 2nd lane for the A12 west for Stratford. At the island, take the 5th exit and from here, follow the dual carriageway for 3.5 miles, taking the exit for the A106. Passing through the first set of lights, it is important to stay in the 2nd lane, as the A106 also bears of to the left !

Then, after passing the Spitalfields Market on your left, turn left at the lights, immediately after crossing the railway. At the island, take the 2nd exit, the depot now being directly on your left. From here, you can safely park up at any one of the three lay-bys, the third being situated near a footbridge, which gives you views of the EMU sidings.

Apart from the depot vicinty, the Eurostar trains also stable alongside Marshall Road. To view here, return to the above mentioned island and take the 3rd exit. Once you've passed the Asda petrol station, the units can be seen on your right.

By Rail - The closest mainline station is Leytonstone, which is quite a distance. However, Leyton underground station is only a few minutes walk away, this being on the Central line and available in the zone 1-3 travelcard.

From the station, turn right and immediately cross over. Then take the steps down past TK Max, KFC and Asda, heading straight towards the supermarket's petrol station. From here, views of the stabling point can be had. For the depot and EMU sidings, continue along, passing under the main road. Parts of the Eurostar complex can be seen from here, the shunter usually stabling by the fueller, this situated near the island. For further views, continue along Orient Way until you reach the footbridge. This not only gives you a good vantage point for the EMU sidings, but also the Stratford to Chingford and Bishops Stortford line. It is worth mentioning, that you will need a good 1.5 hours to view the depot and sidings.

If you wish to pass the depot by train, a Stratford to Tottenham Hale service will suffice, either costing you in the region of £4.40 for a return journey, or using the zone 1-3 travelcard.

Notes - Temple Mills is an extremely easy depot to view, although some of the Eurostar units on shed, may not be visible, due to their obvious length. Like mentioned above, the shunter usually stables by the fueller, more so during the weekend. As this line is nearest the fence, it won't be blocked in, giving you an unobstructed view from the footpath.

On the depot side of the road, there are no footpaths. However, there is enough room between the depot fence and metal crash barriers.

From the above mentioned footbridge, you can walk alongside the mainline, although this path ends as the golf course vicinty bears off to the right.

Vantage Points - The main road and footbridge give you excellent views of the depot and EMU sidings. If using a passing train option, some units won't be idable, due to these being partially blocked in. Viewing the shunter will be difficult aswell, this obviously all depending on where it is stabled.
