Directions and details for the Churnet Valley Railway can be found by following the link below.

http://www.churnet-valley-railway.co.uk/

Notes - Cheddleton is the main station on the CVR, and is also home to the depot and yard. Both can be viewed from the main cark park and platforms. However, locos which are stabled deep in the depot area will possibly not be seen from these points.

Access to the platform is free, as is the depot, although donations are very much welcome. Access through the shed is allowed, although a guided tour is needed to view the yard.

Locos which are not seen at Cheddleton, will sometimes be stabled at Oakamoor, although public access to these will not be allowed.

Vantage Points - Like mentioned above, the car park will offer a half decent vantage point, although stock may be in the way. Please do not enter the field, as this is private property. To view the headshunt and the other side of the yard, return to the station building and cross the line and bridge. Take the canal towpath and upon reaching a cattle grid, take the left hand path and follow along. From here, the headshunt can clearly be seen, as will the yard.
