Address

Coleshill Parkway Station
Station Road
Birmingham
B46 1DA

The shunter is situated within the Hams Hall freight terminal complex and is visible from passing trains.

From junction 9 of the M42 or junction T1 of the M6 Toll, take the A446 south towards Coleshill. At the first roundabout turn left following the signs for Hams Hall. At the next roundabout turn right into Edison Road and, after crossing the river and before the turn for the freight terminal, turn right where it is signposted to the station. Follow this road to the end where it terminates in a turning circle, and park. Follow the grassy path between the fence and the trees to view. Note that this path can be overgrown and is easier to walk in winter.

Unfortunately, the view is blocked by stacks of containers and you need luck for the shunter to be visible through one of the gaps. If it is not working, you may have to walk the whole length of the fence to where the containers end to see the shunter.

Vantage Points: As mentioned above, the shunter is pretty difficult to view. If lucky and there are no containers, this is the kind of view you can expect from the path,

If no luck, passing on the train will suffice, as the shunter is usually stabled near the entrance to the FLT. A Coleshill Parkway - Nuneaton will cost you around £5.40 for a return trip.

Current Allocation:

08401 - Hunslet green
